Mods in Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain make the game rather outlandish, and that's saying something for a game with a villain named Skull Face and an immortal burning man. Allowing for all kinds of wacky cosmetics and gameplay modifications, they provide comedic value more than anything such as the Raiden suit or Wormhole Fulton.

Of course, when it comes to ruining canon with gameplay modifications, modders won't back down from that challenge. They themselves have introduced some of the most hilariously out-of-place mods that either poke fun at the game's conventions or make comedic opportunities given how serious the game takes itself all the time. Here are 10 of those funny mods that turn the whole game into a meme.

10 LQ-84I Blade Wolf

Since the game already went ham and introduced the Raiden suit as a reward to players, might as well give players Raiden's D-Dog equivalent through the LQ-84I Blade Wolf mod. It replaces D-Dog's model with the mechanized canine ofMetal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Do note that it's only an outfit change and will not make D-Dog run as fast as Venom Snake in a Raiden suit. The good boy will have to find other ways of keeping up. However, it does make the Raiden suit in a 1980s Afghanistan less bizarre.

Exactly how the Fulton extraction device works has always been questionable, though we do know it's an exaggerated version of its real-world counterpart. Hideo Kojima's version of it was devoid of logic, and that's what FultonExtraction3000 embraced.

It allows players to cheat in the most gut-busting way possible by letting them Fulton-extract any or all soldiers in a particular map without having to knock them out first. That immediately fills up the Mother Base's brig and makes sneaking into camps a breeze.

8 Turn Portable Toilets Into Provisional Showers

Venom Snake has this tendency to spend too much time in the Afghan or African open world that he forgets to wash off all the blood, sweat, and grime. That's not how a commander should smell like, and the only showers available are back in Mother Base.

Well, not any more thanks to the Turn Portable Toilets Into Provisional Showers mod. Forget about military logistics and realism, Snake needs to bathe to maintain his hygiene and avoid picking up a virus.

7 The Fully Clothed Sniper

In a game likeMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, this is considered a wacky or even blasphemous mod. Quiet's choice of apparel has long been the subject of controversy among many players and fans. Some just prefer a less distracting and a more militarily professional version of her.

That's why The Fully Clothed Sniper mod lets players takeThe Phantom Pain's lore and canon more seriously without the ecchi fan service. Because, really, if Quiet wants to be a part of Diamond Dogs, she has to wear its uniforms.

6 David Hayter Voice Replacer

Speaking of controversies, Kieffer Sutherland as Snake was a hard-to-swallow-pill for many fans. That's because up to that point, David Hayter has always been the voice for Snake, the guy even looks like Snake himself.

That's why for all the David Hayter loyalists out there, the David Hayter Voice Replacer exists as a gift. Sadly, it only replaces the grunts and Buddy voice lines and not the dialogue for Venom Snake. Worth it for the nostalgia alone, though.

5 John Wick and Johnny Silverhand

The world would be a slightly better place if there was more of Keanu Reeves anywhere, including video games and movies.Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painplayers are not immune to his charms, which is why the John Wick and Johnny Silverhand mod is quite popular.

It lets players choose a John Wick model for Snake or a Johnny Silverhand model which is more filling given Snake's prosthetic arm. The John Wick model comes complete with a black suit, and the Jonny Silverhand also has optional shades. Don't forget to have D-Dog as a Buddy and kill everyone if he dies in a mission. That's the canon now.

4 NOT_SO_SKULL_FACE

As isMetal Gear Solidtradition, the villains are weird, insane, or love to rattle off some Saturday-morning cartoon antagonist monologues. The Phantom Paintakes this up a notch by pitting players against Skull Face.

It's hard to feel threatened by someone with a 14-year-old-edginess like that, so some modders gave him a serviceable face with the Not_So_Skull_Face mod. It works for both cutscenes, too. Now he actually looks like he means business.

3 No Health Regeneration

By the end ofThe Phantom Pain, there isn't much challenge left in repeating the Subsistence missions or farming S++ soldiers again and again. Making gameplay spicier in the form of a mod like No Health Regeneration ought to keep things thrilling.

That's what it does. It makes any hit against Venom Snake or an FOB soldier character nearly lethal. Stealth is not mandatory because of it, and boss fights are more excruciating and can be harder thanDark Souls.

2 Bird Mod V1.0

The open world ofThe Phantom Paincan feel rather empty at times with the lack of the local population and rarity of animals. It's usually just soldiers and birds that keep Venom Snake company apart from their buddies and the soldiers are unsociable.

So, it's just birds, really, and they're boring. So, turn them into something more entertaining such as Sahelanthropus or Pequod, or maybe even Hideo Kojima himself! All this is made possible with the Bird Mod V1.0. The things they do with technology these days.

1 Kazuhira Miller

Good old Kazuhira Miller is not quite himself inThe Phantom Pain. Probably because he lost his soldiers and his limbs. Would bringing them back turn him into the jolly charming rogue he once was back in the MSF days? Probably, and it's worth trying with the Kazuhira Miller mod.

It gives back Kazuhira Miller his beard and his slick blond pompadour—no need for vengeance against Cipher. The cane is still there, though, and the limbs are still missing, so he's still grumpy and can't so much as play a fiddle by himself and needs Snake.
